Patented in Enfield

October 26, 2023 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm

Free

Presentation by Enfield Historical Society member Michael Miller.

Enfield has always been home to creative and ingenious people.  Innumerable inventions have been born of their genius.  And many of our Enfield innovators (or their employers) received patents for their inventions or designs.  From the incredibly complex machinery that made Thompsonville’s carpet factories so productive and profitable to innovations in the nuclear power industry, and from strap-on wings that allow the wearer to fly (NOT!) to an add-on cruise-control device for your car that clamps the gas pedal down so you can rest your leg (sounds safe to us), the variety of ideas is awe-inspiring.  Come to the Enfield Historical Society’s October program to learn a bit about what a patent is and then to admire – and sometimes laugh or cringe at – some of the most impressive and outrageous inventions patented in Enfield.

This presentation is open to the public.  Anyone with an interest in Enfield history is welcome to attend.

The Enfield Historical Society is an all-volunteer non-profit organization that has preserved and shared Enfield’s history for more than 60 years.  New members are always needed and greatly appreciated.  Everyone is welcome.  You don’t need to be a historian or Enfield native to join.  Become a member today!
