FreePeter F. Sorenson, author of Hazard Powder The Powder Hollow explosion of 1913 will lead a discussion of the Hazard Powder Company of Hazardville Connecticut from its beginning in 1834 to its ending in a fiery eruption in 1913.

– incentives provided by the Revolutionary Government, which encouraged entrepreneurs to get involved in manufacturing gunpowder for the young nation
– history of the men and women involved in the powder business
– challenges of manufacturing
– competition both regionally and nationally
– backroom deals which sustained the viability of the industry
– death of Colonel Hazard
– purchase of the Enfield site by DuPont
– final explosion which led to the closure of the site
